The inaugural post-COVID Parade and Candlelight Vigil, held on October 1, 2023, in Toronto, Ontario, was conceived as a commemorative event honoring those affected by the pandemic, and it is slated to become an annual tradition every first Sunday of October. Spanning from Christie Pits to Queen Street and concluding at the Legislative Assembly on 111 Wellesley Street West, the parade was envisioned as a poignant display of unity and diversity, aiming to be among the most distinguished gatherings of its kind in North America. As participants traversed the route from Bloor Street West to University Avenue, emotions ran high, underscoring the importance of not only remembering the lives lost during the pandemic but also striving to prevent future calamities of this magnitude. With frontline workers and police officers providing security along the city center, the solemn occasion was observed with a profound sense of solidarity and respect.
